The challenge: interactive demo (2 min)

Industry

Departures, recruitment, temporary staff: the know-how stays in the plant.

Production, maintenance, lockout, quality: your experts pass on their hands-on skills in a few minutes, on the real equipment; your operators learn them on their own, guided in augmented reality. No cloud, no account, no network.

An operator wearing augmented-reality glasses works with both hands on the tool on an automated production line.

Your challenges

Recruit, train, retain the skill.

One million retirements are expected in industry by 20301. Your experts’ know-how must stay, and your newcomers must become autonomous quickly.

Difficult recruitment

In 2026, 43.8% of recruitment projects are considered difficult, rising to 80.6% for machining equipment operation2.

Profiles to train faster

In 2025, 74% of recruiters facing shortages accepted less experienced candidates2: they need to be made autonomous at the workstation.

Temporary and seasonal workers

110,000 to 120,000 temporary workers are employed in the metalworking industry3. With every new arrival, everything starts again, sometimes in another language.

High staff turnover

Rare tasks

A significant share of machine-related accidents happen during maintenance, cleaning and adjustment4: precisely the tasks that are rarely performed.

Overloaded experts

Each newcomer ties up an expert who already has no time.

Experts with no time

Know-how to protect

Your processes and settings are your advantage: they have no business being in a cloud.

100% offline

Your industry

The words and challenges of each sector.

What SHIFT89 changes

Offline, hands-free, on the real equipment.

  • 100% offline

No cloud, no account, no network: your processes, your settings, your know-how never leave your site.

    Learn more
  • Hands-free

Both hands on the equipment, not on a tablet: an instruction placed on the machine gets followed; an instruction on a screen has to be looked for.

  • A few minutes

Your experts have no time: one minute per instruction, at the machine, with no writing or editing.

  • Offline AI

Temporary, seasonal and multilingual teams: everyone gets the instruction in their own language, without any connection.

Use cases

From the production workstation to maintenance.

Lockout

Making a machine safe, in the right order, before working on it.

Take the challenge (2 min)

Maintenance

The expert’s procedure, available right at the machine, even for a rare intervention.

Settings and format changeovers

The expert’s setting, available at every changeover, for every shift.

Quality

Key points of attention shown where they matter, checked with a quiz.

Onboarding newcomers

Temporary and seasonal workers, apprentices, new hires: autonomous faster, without tying up a mentor for every arrival.

Train your customers

Do you build machines? Deliver the know-how with them.

Machine manufacturers

Designed by industry people, for industry people

Every second counts.

As former industry professionals, we built the tool we dreamed of having: a tool that respects your teams’ time and the reality of the shop floor.

We built the tool we dreamed of having when we were in industry Subtitles embedded in the video.

What we equip

Shop-floor vocabulary.

The tutorial fits into your practices: it guides the task; it replaces neither your reference procedures nor authorisations.

Lockout and lockout removal
Each step in the right place, in the right order, before touching anything.
Format changeover and SMED
The expert’s setting available at every changeover, for all shifts.
TPM and 5S
The upkeep and housekeeping tasks entrusted to operators, shown on the machine.
OEE
The right action at the right time, so as not to lose availability on a poorly mastered setting.
Electrical authorisation
The tutorial prepares for and rehearses the procedure; it does not replace the authorisation, which is issued by the employer.

Our hardware advice

The right hardware for your workshop, not the latest fashion.

As former industry professionals, we advise you as we would have advised ourselves: the device suited to your workshop, your protective equipment and your budget. Only solutions proven in real conditions.

PPE and workshop

Wearing with your protective equipment, dust, noise, light: the device has to cope with your workshop, not just a demo room.

The operating range

Temperature, lighting, explosive atmosphere zones: every device has its limits. We tell you before, not after.

Budget and number of workstations

The right number of devices, of the right model, for your workstations and teams, without oversizing.

Turnkey: we configure each device and fit it with the necessary accessories, so that it works in your environment and with your constraints. What we prepare

Works on: Microsoft HoloLens 2, Arvicom CART-S, Samsung Galaxy XR, VITURE Luma Ultra XR, XREAL Aura and VIVE Eagle, and soon Arvicom CART-3D. Your content does not depend on a device.

Measured results

What our deployments have measured.

Automotive industry

A tier-one automotive supplier trains twice as fast

Autonomous operator training, guided in augmented reality on the real equipment.

Result: training speed doubled.

Industrial research

A boiler manufacturing plant: the method evaluated against Guides

Our method stems from work carried out with Institut Mines-Télécom in a boiler manufacturing plant. It was compared with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Guides.

Result: a study published at IEEE ISMAR 2022, the leading international conference on augmented reality.

They trust us

  • A tier-one automotive supplier
  • A food industry manufacturer
  • A manufacturer of measuring instruments
  • A manufacturer of industrial components

Funding and procurement

Simple purchasing.

Licences on quotation

One licence per device, glasses or headset, with volume discounts, and one licence for the PC application. Your choice: annual licences, multi-year licences or licences for the lifetime of the hardware. A quotation based on your project.

One day to get started

A one-hour scoping session by video call, one day on site with up to 8 of your experts, then standard project management. Additional support days when your project requires them.

Do you have HoloLens 2 headsets?

Your existing headsets remain in use, including after Dynamics 365 Guides.

After Guides

Frequently asked questions

Your questions.

Our procedures are confidential. What does SHIFT89 see?

Nothing. Everything runs offline, on your devices and workstations: SHIFT89 hosts none of your data.

Our experts don’t have time. How long does it take?

One minute per instruction, a few minutes for a tutorial, at the machine. No writing, no filming, no mandatory editing.

Are we ready for augmented reality?

Yes. The tool requires no IT skills: a one-hour scoping video call, one day on site with your trainers, then standard project management. The further you are from digital, the more you stand to gain.

Our temporary workers speak several languages. What can we do?

The instruction is translated and read aloud in each person’s language, by an artificial intelligence running on your computer.

Can the glasses be used everywhere in the plant?

Not with every device: temperature, lighting, explosive atmosphere zones, each device has its operating range. Before any project, we tell you what is possible at your workstations.

Are device cameras a problem in protected areas?

In a restricted area or a prototype area, the use of a device with cameras is a matter for your security officer. As everything runs offline, approval is easier to obtain; we help you prepare it.
