The challenge: interactive demo (2 min)

Your challenges

Train large numbers of people, fast, without exhausting your experts.

When newcomers arrive by entire teams, one-to-one mentoring can no longer keep up. Every newcomer ties up an expert, and the expert cannot be multiplied. With SHIFT89, your expert passes on each procedure once, in a few minutes, on the real equipment; each newcomer then follows it on their own, in their language, without a network.

A row of learners performs the same assembly task, each wearing augmented-reality glasses, watched by a trainer.

The situation

Recruits arrive in numbers. Experts do not.

In France: The national roadmap for employment and attractiveness in industry sets a target of 600,000 recruitments from 2026; it estimates that 100,000 recruitments are needed in defence, and as many in nuclear1.

A new line to start up

New line, new site, new product: a whole team must master the work at the same time, from start-up.

A rising production rate

More volume, more teams, more temporary workers: every newcomer must master their workstation quickly, without compromising quality.

Less experienced newcomers

In 2025, 74% of recruiters facing shortages accepted less experienced candidates2: more people to train, and more to teach them.

Being ready, if it came to that

In the armed forces, being ready for a high-intensity conflict, which no one wishes for, also means being able to train on a massive scale, and fast.

What SHIFT89 changes

The expert passes it on once. Every newcomer learns.

Training at scale, more effectively and more quickly: that is what led one of our defence customers to choose us.

  • A few minutes

Your expert passes on a procedure in a few minutes, at the workstation: tutorials keep pace with hiring, with no writing or filming.

  • On the real equipment

Each newcomer follows the procedure on their own, on the real equipment, both hands on the tool; a quiz checks they have understood. The expert no longer has to repeat the same task for everyone.

    Learn more
  • In everyone’s language

Multilingual teams? A tutorial is translated in a few seconds and read in each person’s language, by an artificial intelligence running at your site, without any connection.

    Learn more
  • 100% offline

Nothing to connect, no online account to create for each newcomer: you can train even where the network is not yet installed, and your know-how stays with you.

Our approach

First, understand how a hands-on skill is learnt. Only then, the tool.

Before designing our tool, we studied how people learn to do with their hands what they cannot yet do.

  1. A learning method from our research work

With research laboratories, we studied how people learn a task they don’t know how to do, in a constrained environment. The aim is not to make people act like robots: it is for everyone to understand, remember and own the skill. This method is validated by 5 industrial PhD theses.

  2. A creation method within every expert’s reach

The real challenge is creation: experts don’t have time, and not all of them are comfortable with digital tools. They create their own tutorials, very quickly, with the help of the built-in AI, and these tutorials apply the learning method without them needing to know it.

  3. The tool we wish we’d had

As former industry professionals, we know every second counts: the expert’s time must be kept as short as possible. We also know the value of trade or defence secrets: everything works offline, without compromise, artificial intelligence included, right down to translating a tutorial in a few seconds.

The result: tutorials created in a few minutes, that really make people learn.

The method and its evidenceOur approach

At your site

Start-up, ramp-up, reinforcements: the same need.

In industry

Starting up a line, ramping up production, building a new team: a whole team to train at the same time.

Industry

In the armed forces

A build-up, reinforcements to train: tutorials are created fast, right next to the equipment, even far from any network.

Defence

At defence manufacturers

Produce and support faster: new fitters and technicians learn at the same pace as production.

Defence manufacturers

In schools and training centres

Career changes, extra sessions, larger groups: everyone practises on their own in the technical workshop.

Frequently asked questions

Your questions.

How long does it take to prepare training for a new line?

It depends on the number of tasks to pass on. Allow one minute per instruction and a few minutes per tutorial, created by your experts at the workstation. In our deployments, 8 trainers were operational after one day.

Our teams speak several languages. Do we need one tutorial per language?

No. The same tutorial is translated in a few seconds and read in each person’s language, by an artificial intelligence running at your site, without any connection. Tell us your teams’ languages: we will check with you which ones are available.

Do we need one device per newcomer?

Not necessarily: one device serves several learners, one after another. We recommend the number and model suited to your workstations, your teams and your budget.
