The challenge: interactive demo (2 min)

Defence companies and through-life support (MCO)

Your customer will not open their network. The contract training does without it.

Your through-life support contracts include user training. Deliver it as augmented-reality tutorials, followed hands-free on the equipment, that work at your customer’s site without any connection. No data passes to the software publisher: neither yours nor your customer’s.

An experienced technician shows a maintenance task on a mechanical sub-assembly to a young technician wearing augmented-reality glasses; a military vehicle in the background.
  • 100% offlineAt your customer’s site, on board, on operations, on an isolated network: nothing to connect, nothing to open, artificial intelligence included.
  • No data held by the software publisherWe don’t know what our customers do, and we don’t need to know. Emmanuel Bricard, co-founder.
  • Hands-freeThe instruction is displayed on the equipment, right where action is needed: both hands stay on the tool.

Your challenges

Deliver, pass on, export.

Large groups and defence SMEs share the same support challenges.

Training to deliver at the customer’s site

With a customer that has no network, or will not open theirs, training must work on site, without you.

Train your customers

Experts who leave

Your support experts’ know-how is rare. It leaves with them, into retirement or elsewhere.

When your experts leave

Infrequent maintenance tasks

Some support operations come up only now and then, at the customer’s site as in your workshops.

Know-how to protect

Your support processes are your advantage: they have no business being on a software publisher’s servers.

What SHIFT89 changes

Your experts pass on their skills once; your customer learns on site, in their own language.

What your experts, your trainers and your customer’s users experience.

  • Without any connection

The tutorial works at your customer’s site without a network. Neither you nor we need to access it: we don’t know what our customers do, and we don’t need to know.

    Learn more
  • Hands-free

The user follows the procedure on the equipment, both hands on the tool: no tablet to hold, no binder to leaf through.

    Learn more
  • A few minutes

Your experts pass on a procedure in a few minutes, on the real equipment: one minute per instruction, with no writing, no filming, no contractor.

    Learn more
  • In the customer’s language

The instruction translated and read aloud in each person’s language, by an artificial intelligence running on your computer, offline.

Use cases

From the through-life support contract to export.

Training required by the contract

Deliver tutorials that work at your customer’s site, offline, with a quiz to check what has been learnt.

Before an expert leaves

Capture their skills on the real equipment while they are still here: a few minutes per procedure.

In-service support

Your expert’s procedure available right beside the equipment, at the customer’s site: fewer trips for a rare intervention.

Equipment upgrades

A modification, a new version: the tutorial is updated in a few minutes.

Your workshops and your partners

The same task across your sites and your subcontractors, with no shared platform to open.

Export training

Train a customer army in its own language, on its own equipment, without opening your network to it.

Partner forces and export

The difference

What an online platform, a manual or a video impose at a military customer’s site.

Every tool has its strengths. Here is what these approaches impose by nature, and what we do differently.

  • Other approachesAn online platform at a military customer’s site.It would need a network, accounts, and data held by a software publisher.
With SHIFT89The tutorial works at the customer’s site, offline.Nothing to connect, nothing to host, no online account.
  • Other approachesOne more manual in the delivery. It has to be read, away from the equipment.
With SHIFT89The task guided on the equipment, right where action is needed. And a quiz to check it is understood.
  • Other approachesFilming with a smartphone means one hand fewer for the task. And often a shoot, then editing, then translation.
With SHIFT89Your expert passes on the procedure while performing it, hands-free.One minute per instruction; translation is done on your computer.

What we equip

The language of support.

Through-life support, with tools right beside the equipment, at your site as at your customer’s.

Through-life support (MCO)
User training, delivered with the support, and working without a network at the customer’s site.
In-service support
The expert’s procedure right beside the equipment, for the whole duration of the contract.
Equipment life cycle
Training is part of it: delivered with the equipment, it stays with it to the end.
Industrial prime contracting
A single task standard with your subcontractors and your workshops, with no shared server to open.
War economy
When you have to produce and support faster, training faster matters too.

Our hardware advice

The hardware suited to your conditions of use, not the latest fashion.

Having worked in industry ourselves, we advise our customers as we would have done for ourselves: the device suited to your conditions of use, the length of your programmes and your budget. Only operational solutions.

Your customer’s conditions

Isolated network, workshop, on board: we recommend the device suited to your customer’s operating conditions. Some conditions (outdoors, cold, explosive atmospheres) require a case-by-case study.

The duration of the contract

Hardware chosen to last and to be supported; your content does not depend on a single device.

Your budget

Just the hardware needed: neither the latest fad nor a cheaper but unreliable solution.

Turnkey: we configure each device and fit it with the necessary accessories, so that it works in your environment and with your constraints. What we prepare

Works on: Microsoft HoloLens 2, Arvicom CART-S, Samsung Galaxy XR, VITURE Luma Ultra XR, XREAL Aura and VIVE Eagle, and soon Arvicom CART-3D. Your content does not depend on a device.

Frequently asked questions

Your questions.

Our customer has no network, and will not open one. Is that a problem?

No. The tutorials work without any connection, whether to learn or to track learners. No data passes to the software publisher.

Our experts don’t have time. How long does it take?

One minute per instruction, a few minutes for a tutorial, on the real equipment. No writing, no filming, no mandatory editing, no contractor.

Our procedures are in the manufacturer’s official documentation. What is a tutorial for?

The official documentation remains the reference. The tutorial complements it: it shows the task on the equipment, right where action is needed, and can be updated in a few minutes when the documentation changes.

It also makes training far more engaging and effective, particularly for younger generations. And it enables independent training, where there is no safety risk for learners.

Finally, it becomes your training standard: all learners are trained the same way, and this standard improves continuously, incorporating the best of your past, present and future trainers.

Glasses and headsets have cameras. What about protected areas?

Bringing a camera-equipped device into a protected area is subject to the approval of the site security officer: your rules apply. On our side, images stay on your equipment and none are sent to the software publisher. We do not know what our customers do with our solution, unless they tell us and share their content with us, on their own initiative.

HoloLens 2 is no longer manufactured, and its security updates continue until December 2027 for connected devices. What happens to the investment?

At SHIFT89, we support HoloLens 2 until at least the end of 2030, so you can use your investment for longer. #AugmentedTraining needs no connection to work: your HoloLens 2 headsets can therefore be disconnected from Wi-Fi, for maximum security.

Your content does not depend on a single device: several augmented-reality glasses and headsets are compatible. We advise you, completely independently, on the one that suits your operating conditions and your budget.

All content created with #AugmentedTraining on HoloLens 2 can be reused, without being redone, on the new glasses and headsets we support.

Can we integrate SHIFT89 into our support offering?

Yes, as a partner integrator or reseller. Let’s talk about your contracts and your customers.

Contract training, delivered where it is needed.

A 30-minute to 2-hour demonstration, on one of your pieces of equipment, on an isolated network if needed.
