The challenge: interactive demo (2 min)

Partner forces and export

When your trainers leave, the procedures stay

Train a partner force on its own equipment, in its own language, guided in augmented reality, both hands free. Everything works on site, offline: no network to open, no server abroad, no data held by the software publisher.

An instructor guides trainees around a mechanical assembly; one of them performs the task, wearing augmented-reality glasses.
  • 100% offlineAt the partner’s site, on its isolated network or with no network: nothing to connect, neither at their end nor at yours, artificial intelligence included.
  • No data held by the software publisherWe don’t know what our customers do, and we don’t need to know. Emmanuel Bricard, co-founder.
  • Hands-freeThe instruction is displayed on their equipment, in their language: both hands stay on the tool.

Your challenges

Train far away, train accurately, train to last.

Another language

Users do not always speak your trainers’ language, or that of the documentation.

A time-limited mission

Your trainers leave; the partner’s newcomers arrive afterwards.

No network, or not yours

The partner will not open its network, and you will not open yours.

100% offline

Confidentiality, on both sides

What the partner does is its own business; your know-how is yours alone.

What SHIFT89 changes

Trained during the mission, independent afterwards, in their own language.

What your trainers experience during the mission, and the users afterwards.

  • Without any connection

Everything works on site: no network to open, no server abroad, no data held by the software publisher.

  • Hands-free

The user follows the procedure on their equipment, the instruction right where action is needed, both hands on the tool.

  • A few minutes

Your trainers create a tutorial in a few minutes, on the delivered equipment, during their mission.

  • In everyone’s language

The instruction translated and read aloud in the user’s language, by an artificial intelligence that runs on site, offline.

Use cases

During the mission, and afterwards.

Getting started with delivered equipment

The first tasks on the delivered equipment, guided in the users’ language.

Maintenance and support

Your experts’ procedures available right beside the equipment, even after they have left.

The partner’s newcomers

Those who arrive after the mission find the procedures on site, in their own language.

Instruction and training

The task rehearsed as often as needed, at school as in the unit.

The partner’s trainers

Its own trainers create in turn, in a few minutes: the skills stay with the partner.

Each side keeps its own data

Their procedures stay with them, yours with you: nothing passes through the software publisher.

What we equip

The language of assistance.

Assistance to a partner force
Tutorials that work at its site, without depending on your network or its own.
Training and practice
The task guided on the equipment, to review as often as needed after you have left.
Through-life support
Support procedures available right beside the equipment, in the technicians’ language.
Support
Fewer return trips for your experts for a rare intervention: the procedure is already on site.

The difference

What classroom training, a translated manual or an online platform impose for export.

Every tool has its strengths. Here is what these approaches impose by nature, and what we do differently.

  • Other approachesAn online platform hosted by a software publisher. For the partner, a server abroad and a network to open.
With SHIFT89Everything works on site, offline.Their procedures stay with them.
  • Other approachesClassroom training, in another language. The task is explained away from the equipment, then forgotten.
With SHIFT89The task guided on their equipment, in their language. To review as often as needed, after you have left.
  • Other approachesOne more translated manual. It has to be read, away from the equipment.
With SHIFT89The instruction displayed on the equipment and read aloud.Eyes on the task, both hands on the tool.

Our hardware advice

The hardware suited to your conditions of use, not the latest fashion.

Having worked in industry ourselves, we advise our customers as we would have done for ourselves: the device suited to your conditions of use, the length of your programs and your budget. Only operational solutions.

Conditions of use

Workshop, on board, wear with personal equipment: we advise you on the hardware suited to your environment. Some conditions (outdoors, cold, explosive atmospheres) require a case-by-case study.

Longevity

Hardware supported over the long term, which the partner can keep running after you have left.

Your budget

Just the hardware needed: neither the latest fad nor a cheaper but unreliable solution.

Turnkey: we configure each device and fit it with the necessary accessories, so that it works in your environment and with your constraints. What we prepare

Works on: Microsoft HoloLens 2, Arvicom CART-S, Samsung Galaxy XR, VITURE Luma Ultra XR, XREAL Aura and VIVE Eagle, and soon Arvicom CART-3D. Your content does not depend on a device.

Measured results

What our deployments have measured.

Figures measured during our deployments, a method validated by 5 industrial PhD theses and evaluated against Microsoft Dynamics 365 Guides.

  • 1 minTo create an instructionBy the expert, on the real equipment, with no writing or editing (measured in our deployments)
  • × 2Train twice as fast, autonomouslyMeasured in our deployments, at a tier-one automotive supplier
  • ÷ 5Trainers and mentors tied up5 times fewer, measured in our deployments

Industrial research

A boiler manufacturing plant: the method evaluated against Guides

Our method stems from work carried out with Institut Mines-Télécom in a boiler manufacturing plant. It was compared with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Guides.

Result: a study published at IEEE ISMAR 2022, the leading international conference on augmented reality.

Deployment

8 trainers operational after one day

In our deployments, one day of training is enough: trainers create their first tutorial that same afternoon, then work on their own from the next day.

Result: 8 trainers operational at D+1.

Funding and procurement

Simple purchasing.

For the manufacturer or training provider as for the public buyer, on quotation.

Licences on quotation

One licence per device, glasses or headset, with volume discounts, and one licence for the PC application. Your choice: annual licences, multi-year licences or licences for the lifetime of the hardware. A quotation based on your project.

One day to get started

A one-hour scoping session by video call, one day on site with up to 8 of your experts, then standard project management. Additional support days when your project requires them.

Frequently asked questions

Your questions.

The partner has no network, or refuses to open it.

No connection is required, whether to create, to learn or to track learners. The artificial intelligence also runs on site.

In which languages?

The instruction is translated and read aloud in the user’s language, on site, offline. Tell us your users’ languages: we will check with you which ones are available.

What remains after we leave?

The tutorials, on site, on the partner’s equipment. Its trainers can create new ones in a few minutes.

Our procedures are in the manufacturer’s official documentation. What is a tutorial for?

The official documentation remains the reference. The tutorial complements it: it shows the task on their equipment, right where action is needed, and can be updated in a few minutes when the documentation changes.

It also makes training far more engaging and effective, particularly for younger generations. And it enables independent training, where there is no safety risk for learners.

Finally, it becomes your training standard: all learners are trained the same way, and this standard improves continuously, incorporating the best of your past, present and future trainers.

Glasses and headsets have cameras. What about protected areas?

Bringing a camera-equipped device into a protected area is subject to the approval of the site security officer: your rules apply. On our side, images stay on your equipment and none are sent to the software publisher. We do not know what our customers do with our solution, unless they tell us and share their content with us, on their own initiative.

HoloLens 2 is no longer manufactured, and its security updates continue until December 2027 for connected devices. What happens to the investment?

At SHIFT89, we support HoloLens 2 until at least the end of 2030, so you can use your investment for longer. #AugmentedTraining needs no connection to work: your HoloLens 2 headsets can therefore be disconnected from Wi-Fi, for maximum security.

Your content does not depend on a single device: several augmented-reality glasses and headsets are compatible. We advise you, completely independently, on the one that suits your operating conditions and your budget.

All content created with #AugmentedTraining on HoloLens 2 can be reused, without being redone, on the new glasses and headsets we support.

Your training stays when you leave.
